PRE-PROJECT research

Preliminary design study is a unique IT-Lead methodology using the agile best practices at the stage of immersion in the business tasks.

This is a great way to determine the functional value and understand how to justify an idea for management, put the techies and business in the same boat without wasting budget while minimizing costs.

IN THE IT-LEAD, WE DIVIDE DEVELOPMENT TASKS INTO TWO TYPES

Project development is an IT development aimed at digitizing an established process or at completing a task the priority of which is clear and understandable for business. There is no room for uncertainty in such a process. It includes the classic methods of project creation: development and design. We are also developing Terms of Reference with description of all the design features.

In the same time, a product development is a highly uncertain process. Tasks often cannot be prioritized. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to identify the demand and need for functionality. Due to the rapid change in the external factors, the Terms of Reference are not required.


THREE MAIN STAGES OF STUDY

This stage is often used if you are ready to create something completely new for yourself and the question of whether competitors have similar practices becomes especially relevant. We research the market and assess what functionality is required for each task, thus reducing the potential risks of the project. As a result of this research, we get a basic and necessary set of functions. The answer is provided in the form of detailed report with feedback.

02/

Thanks to our understanding of the current market situation, we approach the task professionally, give an account of each of our decisions and actions. We devote several sessions to discussing the backlog which will be important for solving business problems. It is important to pay attention to the key business problem, analyze user groups (by selecting users who can help make the greatest contribution to the project development)? and then create the most relevant functionality (user stories). As a result, you get a ready-made set of clear tasks broken down by priorities to be implemented.

It is important to remember that the risk of absence of demand still exists even when we have all the functions. Therefore, we verify the hypotheses and the correctness of the proposed option by communicating with the user. We use three main methods:
analysis of the prototype click map (by creating clickable prototypes and collecting feedback);
problem interview (collecting user information);
user story mapping (building a life cycle of pain points to calculate further steps).
